ROCK ON LORD

Pastor Scott Caldwell Caldwell Ministries Psalm 27:5 “For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.” We live in troubled times! Immorality is running ramped. The economy is claiming the finances of thousands. The things that have been wrong and sinful for hundreds and thousands of years are looked at as just an alternative lifestyle. It is clear that the enemy is attacking the church in the last days, but we have this promise. In times of trouble, God shall hide us in His secret place and set us upon a rock. The Hebrew word for “rock” is the word tsur which means “a cliff.” When I first realized what that meant, I said to the Lord, “That ain’t right! You mean to tell me that in all this trouble You are going to hang me out on a cliff?” Come on now! We all have our moments where we question God because we don’t understand. How quickly God changed my perspective. I begin to think about a cliff. The more I thought about it, the more excited I got, until I began to shout! This is what I realized. A cliff is: a. A Higher Place – You got to understand that when trouble comes, God elevates you above your circumstance and your situation. Luke 21;18 says, “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." God lifts you above trouble so that when you look up, you are not looking at your problem, you are looking at your redemption! Let me also say, in military conflicts, the one with the “high ground” or the elevated position has the advantage, and usually wins the battle! Come on! You ought to be shoutin’ right now! b. A place that is extremely difficult if not impossible for people to climb or get to – Like the eagle that builds it’s nest far above danger, in times of trouble God places us under the shelter of His wing where “no evil can befall us.” (Psalm 91:10) The “Rock” or the “Cliff” becomes a place of protection. c. A Better View – So often in troubled times, our vision and outlook becomes cloudy and God has to change our perspective so that we see things as He sees them. To be positioned on a cliff means you now have the ability to see everything around you. This includes any further attacks that may be coming at you. I will end with this. David goes on to say in verse 6, “I will sing and make music to the Lord.” Being on a cliff (Rock) enables whatever sound you make to not only echo, but travel further because there is nothing to stop the sound. When God lifts you up on a cliff, there is nothing to stop your praise, and it can be heard by many! Come on! Why don’t you praise Him right now from that “High Place” He has set your feet upon!
